LAHOR E: Revisions and modifications in the curriculum of veterinary education were proposed in a meeting held at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Wednesday.

Prof Dr Moti Lal Madan, former vice-chancellor of the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University, India, presided over the inaugural session while UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr TalatNaseer Pasha chaired the concluding session`Future challenges of veterinary education and practice a regional dialogue` arranged by UVAS Center for Educational Policy and Administration (CEPA).

Prof Madan explained to the delegates, drawn from all over the country besides India, the existing structure of veterinary education in his country while stressing that the curricula of professional degree programmes should be regularly updated.

Indian delegates, including Prof Dr Parkash S Barar, Prof Dr VKGandotra and Prof Dr Sarvpreet S Ghuman shared their experiences regarding uplift of veterinary education in their country.

Prof Pasha briefed the participants on 24/7 veterinary extension services the UVAS started on its Lahore City Campus. He said plans were under way to establish a pet centre on the Ravi Campus at Pattoki. He also spoke about the commercial setups of poultry, dairy and meat units on Ravi Campus which would give extensive learning opportunity to undergraduate students.
