`Govt spending Rsl.8bn on education reforms

HARIPUR: The provincial government has been spending a huge amount of Rs1.8 billion for introducing uniform education system, training of teachers and providing facilities in schools across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This was stated by Parliamentary Secretary for Environment Haji Fazal Illahi Khan while speaking at a function organised by a civil society organisation, Alif Ailan, here, according to a press release.

Mr Illahi said that National Testing Service (NTS) had been set up in the province in order to make recruitments in a transparent manner. As many as 14,000 new teachers have been appointed through NTS system, he added.

The parliamentary secretary said that the PTI government had declared education emergency in the province, introduced education reforms and was also malcing improvements in other areas where faults were detected.

These measures have produced positive results, he added.

According to him, education and progress were inseparable. This is why education has been kept amongst one of the top priorities of the government, he added.

Mr Illahi also warned that strict action would be taken against educational institutions where students were harassed and implicated in false cases.
