LAHORE: Jamaat-iIslami Emir Sirajul Haq says Prime Minister Imran Khan should have taken parliament into confidence on the issue of foreign interference for regime change the day he had received the letter.
He said in a statement issued here on Friday that even now the prime minister was reluctant to clearly mention the name of the foreign country that wanted to oust him from power. The PM, he added, must take a clear stance on the issue, bringing forward the name of the country involvedininternalaffairs.
Mr Haq said the US meddling in forming and dissolving governments all over the world was an open secret. Washington`s role in Pakistan`s internal matters was also known to everyone, he said.
The way forward to bring the country out of the political crisis, he said, was the resignation of the prime minister and fresh elections. The ruling PTIand the opposidon, he added, should agree on fresh polls and provide an opportunity to the people to elect their representatives in a free and transp arent manner.
He made it clear that the proposed government by the opposition was not a solution to the problems being faced by the country.
He said he had conveyed the same to Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.
He said the JI had decided to stay away from the political game being played in Islamabad. The JI, he added, would never be a part of interest-based politics and instead it would continueits strugglefor a real change.
The JI chief alleged the government made an open interference in local government elections in KP in violation of the election code. Despite the warning of the Election Commission, he said, the prime minister, the KP chief minister and other ministers used state resources to rig the polls.
