Hundreds of fresh graduates offered jobs at UET career fair

LAHORE: Hundreds of fresh graduates were offered jobs at the Career Fair 2022 of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) on Friday.
As many as 105 national and international companies participated in the career fair held on the main campus of the university. The companies included those from the sectors of software and IT, chemical and polymer, textile, construction, steel and educational consultancy. They set up 161 stalls where their representatives conducted interviews of the fresh graduates to employ them in their organisations.
More than 8,000 graduates participated in the fair and more than 50 companies conducted on-spot interviews of the candidates for recruitment and gave them offer letters. Around 20 companies con-ducted recruitment tests and the remaining companies gave the graduates company orientation sessions.
UET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar inaugurated the fair and also visited different stalls. Speaking on the occasion, he said they were organising the largest job fair to provide a one-window operation to both graduates and companies to interact with each other for full-time job placements or summer internship. He praised ef forts of Prof Dr Naveed Ramzan, Prof Dr Asif Ali Qaiser and their team members for organising the f air.
The university administration also distributed souvenirs among the representatives of the companies and the organisers in the closing ceremony.
CONFERENCE: An eight-day 10th international conference on `education and teaching in times of uncertainty: preparing for the future` was started at theUniversity of Education (UE), Main Campus.
The conference would continue till April 8 and it would be attended by eminent academics, scholars and teachers from across the country, along with the United Kingdom and Australia. As many as 75 research papers would be presented during the eight-day internadonalconference.
University of Home Economics Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony while UE VC Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha presided over it. A large number of personalities from different walks of life including students were also present on the occasion.
Ms Ameen said nations could not progress without education and a system was required for promotion and development of education. She said it was the responsibility of higher education institutions to come forward for the developmentof the country.
She said the higher education institutions should not only provide education but also play their active role in promoting education and improving the education system through modern research.
Mr Pasha said the theme of the conference was very important because of the challenges that the world might face in the future. He said the solution would lie in the development of education and research.
`The better future of the world will depend on continuous research and development in education.
Mr Pasha added the international conference was an attempt to provide a platform to the educationists from all over the world, including Pakistan, through which the problems facing the education sector could be solved in future.
The chief organizer of the conference Dr Ayaz Khan and others also addressed the ceremony.
