DERA GHAZI KHAN: Two boys feared drowned when a boat, carrying 13 picnickers, c apsized in the river Indus near Ghazi Ghat on Monday.

A family from Bhutta Colony was on recreation visit to the river when their boat hit a pillar of Ghazi Ghat Bridge. The boat c apsize d and all those on board fell into water.

While most of the picnickers were saved, a nine-year-old boy Haider Ali, son of Javed Iqbal, was struggling for life.

Boatman Juma`s son Gulshan, who was himself just 12, jumped into the river to save him but both of the boys disappeared in water.

Rescuer 1122 was still searching for the bodies when this report was filed.

BOOKED: A foodinspector was suspended from service while eight people, including the inspector and another employee of the food department, were booked after recovery of gunny bags from the brokers during raids at wheat procurement centres by the commissioner.

The suspects were charged with violating the standard operadng procedure of procurement process as gunny bags cannot be sold to the brokers.

The commissioner paid a surprise visit to wheat procurement centres of the district and recovered at least 663 gunny bags issuedby thefood department from the possession of the brokers. He suspended Food Inspector Saadat Bughlani from service while Hamad Raza, an employee of food department, and seven brokers were booked.
