TARGETING children and women is the lowest level of meanness and brutality to which one can fall. Even a terrorist may think twice before committing such a heinous crime. This is the second time that we have witnessed our children being murdered in cold blood.
Back in 2014, national outrage had forced the government and the opposition to sit together and agree upon a national action plan to crack down on terrorist networks. Actions included lifting the moratorium on the death penalty, and allowing military courts to try civilians through a constitutional amendment. In total, six terrorists were hanged, while the mastermind was killed by a roadside mine in Afghanistan.
Once again, the terrorists have targetted Army Public School (APS) students; this time in Khuzdar. Terrorists have been active in Balochistan for long. After every incident, there are condemnations and expressions of resolve by government functionaries, but nothing happens in concrete terms.
This surely cannot go on unchecked, and some serious actions are required to be taken because desperate times, as they say, call for desperate measures.
