RAWALPINDI: The cash-strapped Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has expedited the campaign to recover outstanding amount from housing schemes and buildings on the last month of the current fiscal year 2024-25.

The RDA had set a target of recovering Rs275 million from housing schemes under the head of scrutiny and approval fee in the fiscal year 2024-25 but managed to collect Rs228 million, facing a shortfall of Rs23.315 million.

Similarly, it had set a target of recovering Rs735 million under commercialisation fee and building plan approval and building control fee in 2024-25, but so far it has collected Rs519.821 million, facing a shortfall of Rs153.929 million.

Upon this, RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza took serious notice of slow recovery and asked the building and planning branches to speed up the recovery drive as the fiscal year would end by June 30. RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza said the recovery of outstanding dues remained a top priority of the authority. She directed all relevant branches of the RDA to intensify follow-up efforts to ensure timely and effective recovery related to housing schemes and buildings.

She emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among departments and instructed staff to maintain strict compliance with recovery procedures. She also underscored the importance of transparency, efficiency and accountability in all related matters.

`The financial stability of the RDA directly impacts our ability to serve the citizens of Rawalpindi effectively. Therefore, recovery must be pursued proactively, without any delay or negligence,` she added. The RDA director general said the civic body remained committed to upholding its responsibilities and ensuring sustainable urban development through proper resource management and enforcement of regulations.
