CM vows to resolve problems of displaced tribesmen

BANNU: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that provincial government is making arrangements on war footing to address the problems of internally displaced persons of North Waziristan Agency.
Talking to the displaced tribesmen during a visit to IDPs camp here on Tuesday, he said that provincial government was not taken into confidence about the timing of the military operation in North Waziristan.But once the operation was launched, they supported it wholeheartedly, he added.
The chief minister said that provincial government was making arrangements on emergency basis to resolve the difficulties of the displaced families.
He said that the administration of all districts was directed to extend all out support and cooperation to the displaced families.
`All the laws have been relaxed in order to make arrangements to accommodate the IDPs, he added.
The chief minister was accompanied by speaker of provincial assembly Asad Qaisar, Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf provincial president Azam Swati, general secretary Khalid Masood, Bannu commissioner, DIG and other officials.
Mr Khattak said that directives were issued to the quarters concerned to provide food, water,healthcare and other facilities to the IDPs.
The displaced people rendered great sacrifices by leaving their homes to help the security forces to restore peace in the region, he added.
The chief minister directed Pesco authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the IDPs camps and end power loadshedding there forthwith.
He said that four distribution points were set up for the IDPs in 40 union councils of Bannu. He said that the number of distribution points would be increased on the demand of the IDPs.
Mr Khattak said that the IDPs were given cash, cellular phone SIMs and smart cards. More facilities would be provided to them with the passing of time, he added.
Later, the chief minister distributed relief goods including food items among the IDPs.
