GUJRANWALA: The Model Town police arrested two PML-N activists on Monday for allegedly attacking the house of party MPA Ashraf Ali Ansari.

Younas Ali Ansari , a brother of MPA Ashraf Ansari, told reporters that a number of activists gathered outside their house in the neighbourhood and began shouting slo-gans against the lawmaker for meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Sensing the situation, the family shut the main gate of the house as some activists resorted to firing, he said. The family`s gunmen responded by firing bullets in the air while the police were also informed of the situation, he said.

He said the police arrested Usman Butt and Aamir Suhail, while others fled.

Mr Ansari alleged that formerPML-N MNAs Ghulam Dastgir Khan and Usman Ibrahim were behind the attack. He claimed that former Municipal Corporation councilor Nasir Khokhar had provoked the activists to attack their house.

But former federal minister Khurram Dastgir Khan denied that their group had any role in the protest and demanded release of the party activists detained by the police.
