TAXILA: The Attock police on Friday cracked down on armed wings of illegal private housing societies in Fatehjang area and arrested hve suspects and seized a large quantity of weapons.

Addressing a press conference at Fatehjang, SDPO Raja Fayyazul Haq said the police had information that various housing societies had hired mercenaries equipped with sophisticated weapons who would resort to firing over land disputes.

He said separate cases had been registered against the suspects. He said police planned another major combing operation across all the housing societies to curb the rising incidents of armed clashes among land grabbers, mafias and illegal private housing societies.
