PRA posts 20pc growth with Rs239bn collection

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) claims to have collected over Rs239 billion in the fiscal 2023-24, showing a growth of 20 per cent if compared with the total revenue collection of Rs200.1bn during 2022-23.

The total collection of PRA, according to a spokesperson, consists of Punjab sales tax on services at Rs223.4bn against the Rs191.2bn duringthe correspondingperiodlast year showing 17pc growth, Punjab Workers Welfare Fund at Rs10.2bn reflecting 92pc growth if compared with Rs5.3bn during last year and Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess (PIDC) at Rs5.5bn if compared with the Rs3.5bn last year which also exhibited growth at 55pc.During the last month of financial year 2023-24 i.e. June 2024, the PRA collected Rs32.7bn compared to Rs28.2bn during the last year thus showing growth at 16pc if compared with June 2023.

`The authority is persistently striving upon increasing the own source revenue of the province of Punjab despite all challenges mainly arising out of economic meltdown during 2023-24,` the spokesperson said, adding that PRA accounts for around 66pc of Punjab`s Own S ource Revenue (OSR) is determined to maximise the provincial revenue through its dedicated team and cooperation of taxpayers in fulfilling their obligations through timely payment of taxes.
