KARACHI: While the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) formally abolished charged parking at dozens of its designated facilities in the metropolis, it notified on Tuesday 11 locations where parking charges are still applied.

According to a notification, parking fees will be charged at Sindbad in Gulshan-iIqbal (boundary wall); A.O Clinic Parking, Nazimabad (boundary wall); Hydri Market Parking & Sunday Motorcycle Bazaar (boundary wall); in front of NazimabadDriving Licence Branch (boundary wall); Clifton Centre (covered area); Sassi Arcade Clifton (covered Area); Paradise Centre Clifton (covered area); Polo Ground on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road (covered area); Crystal Court Clifton (covered area); Plot Between Beach View Parking in Clifton (covered area); Hyper Star, Beach View Parking in Clifton (covered area).

Parking fees waived at 32 locations `The KMC is pleased to announce that parking fees will no longer be charged at 32 designated KMC-managed parking sites across the city,` said a KMC statement.

`This initiative aims to provide financial relief and improved public convenience to the citizens of Karachi. The decision will be implemented with effect from 1st July2025,` it added.

The KMC notification issued to announce the development also included a list of the spots where the parking facility has now been made free.

The East district areas include Fariya Mobile, Raza Mobile Rashid Minhas Road (Al-Ghafoor to Firdous Shopping Mall); KDA Market (Gulshan Flyover to Disco Bakery, Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani Road); Chase Value Centre opposite Alladin Park, Rashid Minhas Road (Service Road); Mashriq Centre to Kareem Plaza, Sir Shah Suleman Road, N.I.B.D Hospital to United King Bakery, Sir Shah Suleman Road; Service Road, Sharea Faisal (Karsaz Flyover to Quaideen Flyover and return); Al-Khaleej Tower to Kababjee (Service Road of Shaheedi-Millat Road), Service Road from Hardees to Chase-Up Jail Chowrangi, Shaheed-i-MillatRoad; Civic Centre, University Road & Sir Shah Suleman Road (Gate to DMC East Office); Imtiaz Store, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Rashid Minhas Road; Gulshan View Mobile Market, Abul Hassan Isphani Road, Home Plus, Red Apple to Maskan Roundabout (both sides of Shabbir Ahmed Usmani Road), in front of Rufi Shopping Mall; Main University Road, in front of Chase Plus, Safoora, Main University Road, in front of Usmania Hospital and Jail Road.

Area; Centrum Shopping Mall, Rashid Minhas Road; Kifaya Omega Mall, North Karachi, South district: In front of Jillani Centre Mobile Market, in front of Naz Plaza toAmma Tower, Kousar Medico to Civil Signal, Lighthouse Signal to M.W. Tower), M.A.

Areas under the Korangi and Malir districts include Raza Mobile Market to Nadra Office, Main National Highway, Malir; in front of Aman Tower, Main Korangi Road Crossing; in front of Jhanghir Petrol Pump, Quetta Namkeen, Rafiq Market (Chaman Plaza), in front of Mobile Market No.4, Main Korangi Road; Model Park Korangi No. 3½, in front of Cut Price Shop to Sindh Govt.

Hospital, Main Korangi Road; in front of Chase Value, Shaan Chowrangi and Korangi Mehran Highway.

The West and Keamari districts areas include KPT Gate No.01, Keamari near Shell Petrol Pump, M.A. Jinnah Road; Sharjah Shopping Mall to Kohinoor Marriage Hall, Hub River Road.
