CHITRAL: Deputy Commissioner, Chitral, Osama Ahmed Warraich on Monday visited the houses of two slain Kalash shepherds in Bumburate valley and presented compensation cheques of Rs0.5 million each to the legal heirs.
He also announced to recruit a person from each family in Chitral Levy if they met the minimum criteria. He said the farmers whose goats had been snatched by the Afghan bandits and herded into the Nooristan area of the country the other day would be compensated.
Mr Warraich assured the Kalash people residing in the three Kalash valleys that their life, property and honour would be safeguarded and no such incidents would be allowed to take place in future.
On Sunday, General Officer Commanding of Swat Division of Pak Army, Maj-Gen Asif Gahfoor had visited the bereaved community in Bumburate and consoled them by giving them a compensation of Rs50,000 each.
He had also announced to recruit one person each from the bereaved family in the Pak Army.
Chitral JI emir Maulana Jamshed Ahmed also visited the bereaved community and assured them of his all out support in their hour of grief.-Correspondent
