PESHAWAR: Two persons, including an officer of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), were killed on Monday when unidentified attackers opened fire on them in the limits of Yakatoot police station here.

The incident took place at around 9am, when IB Inspector Usman Gul, 42, was on his way to office from his residence located in Dir Colony area of the city.

A police official identified the other slain as Iftikhar, 16, a mechanic. He said Inspector Usman was targeted near Christian Colony by two attackers riding a bike.

The official said Inspector Usman succumbed to his injuries while being taken to hospital, while Iftikhar died in the hospital.

He said both the accused managed to escape the scene following the incident.

The police official said it was an incident of targeted killing. The Counter Terrorism Department has registered FIR and started investigations.
