Man sent to prison for 10 years in illicit weapon case

KARACHI: A sessions court on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years imprisonment in an illicit weapon case.

Kamran, alias Kamu, was found guilty of carrying an unlicensed weapon in a New Karachi locality in September 2014.

Additional district and sessions judge Sikandar Ameer Pahore, who conducted the trial in the judicial complex at central prison, also imposed a fine of Rs25,000 and in case of defaultthe convict would have to undergo an additional six months in prison.

The accused was bool(ed under Section 23 (1) (a) of the Sindh Arms Act, 2013 at New Karachi police station.

The prosecution said that he was also facing trial in some other cases pertaining to murder and robbery.

Warrants for absconders An antiterrorism court issued on Monday warrants for the arrest of absconding accused in two cases pertaining to attacks in the 1990s.Fahim, alias Mirchi, and Nasir, alias Khajji, said to be political activists, were picl(ed up in January by Rangers and later bool(ed by police in a 1995 case of a rocl(et attack at the Sindh Assembly and a blast on the premises ofthe Sindh secretariat.

The police have shown Feroze, alias Fauji, Akhtar Sheikh, Habib, alias Langra, Arifin and Saeed, alias Bharam, as absconders in the charge sheet and the ATC-III issued non-bailable warrants asking the police to arrest them and produce them in court by Aug 13.
