Private school girls shine in HSSC exam results

MARDAN: Girl students of private schools outshined boys in the annual results of higher secondary school certificate examinations announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mardan, here on Tuesday.

The result was announced by relevant board officials at a ceremony, where the position holding students, their parents and locals were in presence.

Fatima Siddiqui with 1,019 marks, Wajeeha Shah with 1,013 marks and Aatika Noor with 1,011 marks obtained first, second and third positions, respectively. All the three students of the science group belong to the Peace School and College, Nowshera Cantonment.

In general science group, Hafsa of Nisar Shaheed Intermediate College, Risalpur, got first position with 968 marks, Feezan Khattak of Apostle Degree College, Nowshera, obtained second position with 907 marks and Kainat of FG Girls Inter College, Mardan Cantonment, secured third position with 866 marks.

In humanities group, Kalsoom -a private candidate hailing from district Nowshera -with 935 marks, Hira Ahmad of Noor Education System and School and College, Kheshgi Nowshera, with 893 marks and Romaisa Subhan of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ikram Pur Mardan, with 890 marks secured first, second and third positions, respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Ali, the board`s controller of examinations, said total 36,520 students of part-I appeared in the examination of which 18,463 were declared as passed with overall result percentage at 50.56pc.

He said 32,285 candidates appeared in part-II of which 21,334 were declared successful with overall result percentage of 66.08pc.

Dr Shaukat Hayat, the Mardan education board`s chairman, gave away cash prizes of Rs50,000 to first position holders, Rs45,000 to second position and Rs35,000 to the third position holders of all categories.

He asked the students to work hard for getting outstanding positions in their educational careers.
