Murder over property dispute Protest against police for releasing suspects

TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of relatives of a murdered man staged a demonstration by placing the body in front of the Jhang DPO office on Tuesday to protest the alleged release of the murder suspect by the Jhang Saddar police.
According to protesters, on July 7, suspect Sharafat Ali and his four accomplices shot at and injured Manzoor Hussain in Chak 264-JB over a property dispute.
Manzoor was taken to the DHQ Hospital and later referred to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
The police had initially registered a case and arrested the main accused but later released him. The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of suspects.
A Jhang police spokesperson stated that section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code has been included to the FIR, and action would also be taken against the negligent police officials.
CASE RESOLVED: TheJhang`s Kotwali police traced the murder of Abuzar Ali and arrested his alleged killer.
According to a police official, on July 28, the police received a call through 15, reporting that Abuzar of neighbourhood Lohle Shah was shot and killed by an unidentified suspect while alone in his house.
The police arrested Abbas Rashid, who duringinterrogationrevealed that he killed Abuzar Ali to a dispute over his secret marriage to Saima, whom the accused also wanted to marry.
NO POLITICS: Former Faisalabad district bar association president and PTI ticket holder from PP-112, Bilal Ashraf Basra, announced on Tuesday that he is quitting PTI.
In a video-recorded statement, he condemned the May 9 attacks and stated that he has decided to leave active politics.
Mr Basra was previously arrested on May 11 at the Faisalabad DBA while addressing a press conference to condemn the arrest of Imran Khan and PTI activists. He was recently released.
