ISLAMABAD: City managers on Friday directed the relevant wings to expedite development work in several sectors and to call tenders for the development of sub-sector E-12/4.

The Capital Development Authority`s (CDA) performance in sector development has reportedly been unsatisfactory.

Chairing a meeting on sector development, CDA ChairmanMuhammad Ali Randhawa directed the engineering wing to speed up development work in several sectors. He also instructed the wing to float tenders for sub-sector E-12/4, where the CDA currently does not have possession.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner (DC) was directed to take steps to obtain possession of this sector. The meeting authorised the DC to resolve pending issues with locals of E-12/4 to ensure early possession.

The CDA has already carried outpartial development work in three sub-sectors of E-12-a sector launched by the civic agency back in 1989. Sources in the CDA said that many allottees have died while waiting, and now their next generation awaits possession of the land after 36 years.

Sources further said the chairman directed the wing concerned to issue possession letters to allottees of E-12/1 and other sub-sectors where development work has been completed.

`This month, we are planning to issue allotment letters for those plots where development work has been completed in Sector E-12, said a CDA officer.

The meeting also discussed thedevelopment charges being levied on allottees. It was informed that those allottees who have stay orders in their favour are not being asked to pay development charges for the time being, as long as their stay orders remain valid.

It said the CDA chairman instructed that the development and construction work `should not only be expedited but also ensure no compromise on quality and standards of construction work.

He directed that in sectors wheredevelopment work is ongoing, the relevant CDA directorates, especially the DC CDA, should establish camp offices along with their staff to help resolve public issues at their doorstep.
