SHIKARPUR: Police claimed to have killed a notorious dacoit and arrested the other on the Rahimabad link road during an encounter late on Monday night.

Police said a group of six armed dacoits were planning a robbery on the link road when an encounter took place with the police.

During an exchange of fire, an outlaw identified as Ghous Bux Dahani was killed while one of his accomplices named Sain Dad Dahani was arrested. Four others fled taking advantage of darkness.

Police recovered a shot gun and a TT pistol from the possession of the killed and arrested dacoits.

The body of Ghous Bux was handed over to his relatives after a post-mortem examination in Khanpur Hospital.

The Sindh government had announced Rs300,000 as his head money.
