HYDERABAD: Office-bearers of the Sindh Progressive Committee (SPC) have expressed concern over political situation prevailing in the country.

They said the PPP and MQM had failed to resolve people`s issues and had set new records of corruption.

In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, committee convenor Yusuf Mastikhan, Abdul Khalig of the Jeay Sindh Mahaz-J, Imdad Qazi of the Communist Party of Pakistan, Abrar Kazi of the Awami Jamhoori Party (AJP) and Awami Workers Party general secretary Balchshal Thalho said the two parties had destroyed Sindh politically, economically and socially for which working class of Sindh would never forgive them. The AJP also joined the SPC on Tuesday.

The SPC leaders said that simultaneously the military establishment portrayed itself as clean and saviour of the masses and the corporate media was toeing their line in order to build image of these institutions among people.

But it was the military establishment which historically had played an important role in creating political, social and economic chaos and promoting corruption.

They said it was the establishment which had created the genie of religious extremism and on the pretext of controlling it, it (establishment) was presenting itself as hero.

The SPC believed that it was an internal conflict of rulers.
