SANGHAR: An around 100-footwide breach in the RD-304 dyke of Nara canal some 25 kilometres from Khipro caused flooding of more than 500 acres of farmland on Tuesday.Local residents said that the breach occurred in the early hours and spillage from the broken bund started flooding the nearby areas.

A large number of villagers rushed to the site and almost plugged the breach before irrigation workers and labourers joined them in theevening.

Flooding in the af fected area washed away standing crops and inundated many villages.

The Sanghar deputy commissioner visited the breach place and supervised the plugging work carried out by villagers and irrigation workers.
