`Markets to be cleared of encroachments

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will launch an operation against encroachments in the markets in collaboration with traders.

This was stated by Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed during a meeting with a delegation of traders from different markets of the city.

The traders informed the official about the problems being faced by them.

Mr Ahmed said the CDA was committed to providing quality services to the residents and was following a comprehensive plan to facilitate the residents in general and the traders in particular.

He said all major roads in the city were being revamped and improvement of commercial centres was the focus of the consolidated programme.

He said the carpeting of roads, improvement and upgradation of footpaths and the provision of streetlights in different markets were also being ensured.

In order to solve the long-standing parking issue in the capital, two parking plazas are being constructed in Markaz F-7, which would be operational in a few days. More parking places are being explored so that the issue can be resolved in an effective manner.

He said the environment wing of the authority had been tasked to beautify and decorate all the entry points of the city.-APP
