LAHORE: A senior private secretary of the Lahore High Court has been missing for three months while police have no information about his whereabouts.
Authorities at the high court are yet to take up the matter with police, while salary of the allegedly abducted 55-yearold ofñcer of BS-19 has been stopped, sources told Dawn.
Waris Ali had left his official residence in Wahdat Colony on June 11 around 1pm but did not return. He was on medical leave during which he went missing.
One of his sons, Basharat Ali, a student of B.Com, said his family had no enmity with anyone. He said no one had contacted the family yet about ransom. He also complained about the noncooperation of police in searchingfor his father.
Basharat said he informed the Wahdat Colony police the same day his father went missing. Police initially lodged a missing report, he added.
`We have searched all hospitals and mortuaries but found no clue,` the complainant said.
Police had registered a first information report under Section 365 of the PPC against unidentified kidnappers on Aug 18 with no updates in the case.
Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf said an investigation was under way and police would solve the case soon. He revealed Waris Ali had a history of disappearing suddenly. However, the complainant rejected this claim and maintained his father never went missing before this.-WAJIH AHMAD SHEIKH
