KARAK: The recently repaired spillway and regulating valve of Changhoz Dam was damaged again by rainwater, creating problems for farmers of several areas to irrigate their lands.
The local elders expressed concerns over the wastage of water from the dam and said that the recent heavy rain washed away the spillway.
The elders including Nudratullah and Hafiz Saeed said that the regulating valve, which was repaired instead of being replaced by the contractor, was damaged again.
The water of the dam was being wasted, they added.
They said that few months ago fish worth millions of rupees died as the dam was dried up owing to the damaged spillway and regulating valve.
They said that crops in the last season were also damaged and the farmers faced heavy losses.
The elders demanded of the authorities to repair the spillway and replace the regulating valve to save the water of the dam and restore supply of water to the farmers.
The local people would be left with no option but to hold protest if the quarters concerned did not resolve the problem, they said.
