Centre approves power project, hospital for GB

GILGIT: The federal government has approved to set up 20-megawatt hydro power plant in Hunza and 200-bed cardio hospital in Gilgit.

The projects would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs5 billion. The projects were approved in a meeting of Central Development Working Party (CDWP) held in Islamabad, said a press issued.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal. The officials of federal and Gilgit-Baltistan government also attended the meeting.

The meeting approved 20 megawatts Hanzal power project and 200-bed cardio hospital in Gilgit, however, two other power schemes including 26 megawatts Shagarthung hydro power project and 30 megawatts Ghuwari hydro power project in Baltistan were delayed till next meeting owing to some technical reasons.

The meeting tasked a committee to review the delayedprojects within 10 days so that those could be approved in the next meeting of CDWP.
