`NAB exit doors`

2015-10-02
APROPOS the editorial `National Accountability Bureau exit doors` (Sept 28). The Supreme Court has already validated all sections of NAO under the Khan Asfand Yar Wali vs Federation PLD 2001 Supreme Court 607 case in 2003 and under the case of `other person` in 2013.

The plea bargainis approved by courts/ high courts.

But Voluntary Return under Section 25 (a) should also be validated by the judicial system.

The Supreme Court may interpret this clause throughthejurisprudence process for ensuringtransparency.

Additionally, amendments in the law may also be considered to have an accountability body to keep watch over the National Accountability Bureau in line with other models practised in the world like Hong Kong and Singapore.

There is also dire requirement for amending the NAO giving more autonomy and transparency to the National Accountability Bureau.
