THE dilapidated University Road is a major artery. It takes about 35 minutes to reach our workplace in the morning, but in the evening the same distance takes more than one hour or sometimes an hour and a half.
The experience of travelling from old Sabzi Mandi to Safoora Chowrangi is nothing but a misery for two reasons: one,vehicles move at a snail`s pace owing to the damaged road and, two, the presence of outlets of top brands on the left side of University Road. Both these factors cause traffic jams in the evening. This results in heavy traffic on the service road as well.
To make matters worse, overflowing sewage causes more damage to the dilapidated road built decades ago. Parking should not be allowed on University Road and all U-turns should be closed for the smooth flow of traffic. This road is in need of immediate revamping and expansion.
