THE Superintendent of Customs at Sust port, near Hunza, has clarified a story which was published in Tuesday`s Dawn under the headline, `First trade activity under CPEC kicks off`.
The story quoted Ishaq Klani, the superintendent, as saying that containers carrying goods from China as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project were exempted from payment of import tax at the port.
According to the official, all such containers paid import tax and customs tax.
`No imported goods, including those being imported under the CPEC projects, were exempted from any tax,` he clarified.
