Chinese students on study tour

LAHORE: A delegation of China University of Geosciences (CUG), Wuhan, students arrived at the GovernmentCollegeUniversity(GCU) on Tuesday on a two-week study tour.

According to a press statement issued here, the delegation comprising10 postgraduate and undergraduate students was warmly received by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hasan Amir Shah and GCU Centre of Excellence China Studies Director Prof Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt.

The students, led by Prof Dr Xie, will attend a short course at the GCU`s political science department on Pakistan studies.

`The course is designed to apprisestudents of the history and culture of Pakistan, and our strong friendship with China,` said Prof Butt.

The delegation will also tour the historical places in Lahore, besides attending various cultural events. It was part of an exchange programme initiated under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed last year between the two varsities.

He said five GCU students would also visit China for research this year.

FCC: Forman Journalism Society (FJS) of the FC College, organised a workshop on practical journalism on Tuesday.

Media personalities, including Juggan Kazim, Noorul Hasan and Haseeb Khan, briefed the students on different aspects of practicaljournalism.

FJS secretary general Zahra Abbassi acted as the moderator, while mass communication department head Ms Rachael Hasan and others were also present.

PU: Punjab University`s Pakistan Study Centre will organise a seminar on `Pakistan Afghanistan Relations: Implications for the Region` on Wednesday (today) at 11:30am at its auditorium.

University of Warsaw, Poland`s Prof Dr Piotr Balcerowicz and Analyst Syed Muhammad Mehdi will be the keynote speakers on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the PU has declared the result of BSc (Engg) Electrical Engineering, 1st Semester exam 2016. Details are also available at PU website www.pu.edu.pk.
