Several hospitalised after having meal

TIMERGARA: Several people were hospitalised after eating meal at the house of a local leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in Cham Badin area of Samarbagh tehsil here on Tuesday, locals said.

They said condition of more than three dozen people deteriorated soon after taking the meal.

The affected people were complaining of severe vomiting and dysentery.

Talking to journalists, PTI leader Syed Lugman said he had brought cooked rice from a local chef for serving relatives and locals at his under construction house.

He said condition of more than 30 people deteriorated soon after consuming the meal.

He said he would send the samples of food for laboratory examination, adding a case would be registered against the chef if it was proved that the meal was rotten or mixed with some poisonous substance.

S P O R T S COMPETITIONS: The inter-schools sports` competitions are in progress in the district, attracting a large number of students and youth.

On Tuesday, final matches of basketball, cricket, volleyball and hockey were played, which were won by the teams of government higher secondary school, Saddo, GHSS Ziarat Talash, GHS Khanpur and government centennial model high school, Timergara, respectively.

Also in the day, Al-Badr hockey club won the inter-clubs hockey championship after defeating the red hocl
The Lower Dir district hockey association organised the event.

Balambat Tehsil Nazim Imran ud Din was chief guest who distributed trophies and cash prizes among the winner, runner up teams and best players of the tournament.

Meanwhile, district education officer, male, Hafiz Ibrahim, inaugurated interzonal cricket competitions among government high and higher secondary schools at a function at Saddo on Tuesday.
