BATTAGRAM: The local chapter of the Pakhtunkhwa College Teachers Association (PCTA) has rejected the biometric system of attendance in colleges, saying the teachers are punctual and performing their duties honestly.
The decision was made at a meeting of PCTA at Government Degree College for Boys, Battagram, on Tuesday.
The teachers argued that the provincial government`s measures were badly affecting their performance.
On the occasion, PCTA Battagram president Waheed Awan said that college teachers were not ready to accept biometric attendance system as it was not possible for them to come early in the morning and leave late in the evening. He added that college teachers were punctual and performing their duties honestly and, thus didn`t need biometric system for attendance.
Arshad Hussain, PCTA Battagram general secretary, said if the government did not withdraw the biometric system, college teachers would initiate a protest movement. The participants of the meeting alleged that the provincial government was interfering in the education system by introducing new measures every now and then. `Such policies will ruin the education system in the province,` he said.
Meanwhile, local people also endorsed the view of the college teachers, saying if the government wanted to keep check on college teachers it could introduce other measures other than the biometric attendance system. Correspondent
