DERA GHAZI KHAN: An anti-corruption court on Wednesday confirmed bail to former prime minister Imran Khan`s sister Uzma Khan in a case of alleged illegal allotment of 5,261 kanals of land in Layyah, and denied bail to her husband Ahad Majeed, who fled the court before the order was issued.

According to the anti-corruption establishment, Dr. Uzma and Ahad Majeed obtained the land allotment in connivance with the patwari circle during 2020-21. The land was bought for around Rs130 million while its actual value was estimated to be Rs6 billion.

The ACE alleges that the land was bought in order to benefit from the proposed Greater Thal Canal project. It further alleges that the then prime minister Imran Khan and chief minister Usman Buzdar allegedly misused their powers to acquire 500 kanals of land from the old settlers for the accused.

Forcible possession was taken against which the previous owners also filed applications to register cases but no action was taken.
