ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday directed the Privatisation Commission (PC) and Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP) to coordinate and suggest measures to resolve issues faced by Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).
He said this while chairing a meeting with the PC to review matters related to PSM, a press release said.
PC Chairman Mohammad Zubair gave a detailed presentation on the mill affairs.
Secretary Industries and Production informed the meeting that the new CEO of PSM has assumed charge and is looking into administration and finance issues.
Mr Dar said the government is committed to finding a way forward and resolving the PSM issues.
He said the government is encouraging the private sector in order to make sure that this national asset makes its due contribution to the economy and allows for creation of jobs.
He highlighted the government`s commitment to the workers of PSM is demonstrated by the fact that the government paying the salaries to the employees, even when no production is taking place.-APP
