LARKANA: Consul General of Indonesia Arie Poluzzi visited Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Arija campus, on Saturday and delivered a lecture on public health issues in his country, focusing on effective management strategies and collaborative solutions.

Mr Poluzzi said at the interactive lecture on `Public Health Management` organised by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation of the university that both Indonesia and Pakistan had huge populations and majority of their population was young.

Pakistan`s graduates should apply for jobs and also for postgraduation in Indonesia which needed a lot of doctors, he said.

SMBBMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nusrat Shah said that admission to postgraduation in Indonesia was a great opportunity for Pakistan`s medical graduates as the country was offering 250 fully-funded scholarships.

She urged students to focus more on South East Asian countries which were cheaper and more feasible options for postgraduate education compared to USA and UK.

Prof Shah highlighted the role of international collaboration in fostering research and academic programs and expressed her gratitude to Mr Poluzzi for sharing his expertise and fostering strong ties between Indonesia and SMBBMU in the field of health sciences.

Dr Mir Hassan Khoso, director ORIC, highlighted in his welcome speech the importance of international collaborations for the university. `We have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Air Langga University Indonesia last year and look forward to meeting their team in our scientific conference in February 2025,` he said.
