MIRPURKHAS: Muttahida Qaumi MovementPakistan (MQM-P) district office-bearers on Sunday alleged that Mir Sher Mohmmad UC chairman, Mohammad Ali, who belonged to the Pakistan Peoples Party, had committed irregularities to the tune of millions of rupees and suddenly left the country.
Speaking at a media briefing, MQM-P district in-charge Khalid Tabassum, zonal in-charge Afaq Ahmed and other office-bearers pointed out that the UC chairman avoided getting the UC budget approved over the last 18 months.
They said that the unaccounted for funds were ostensibly utilised in his private business after the same were acquired in the name of political activities.
They criticised him for never paying attention to civic conditions in the UC, pointing out that its various wards lacked proper municipal facilities and manholes without covers. They said sewage remained accumulated on roads and streets creating health hazards and other problems. Besides, they added, heaps of garbage could be seen everywhere but the UC chairman was not taking interest in ensuring proper municipal services.
They urged the authorities concerned to order an inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of the funds and appropriate action to help resolve the UCs civic issues.
