TURNING A BLIND EYE: While the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are getting killed brutally, the world at large, especially the Muslim world, has preferred to turn a blind eye to these atrocities and their consequent miseries. The film festival that was held in Jeddah amid all this horror was in utter bad taste. The media houses that covered the event in Pakistan were equally to blame. Pakistanis should actually put on hold their plans regarding pilgrimage of any sort to the holy land because their hard-earned money will end up in the hands of people who have opted not to show empathy to the plight of innocent Palestinians.

This money should be diverted towards the rebuilding of Gaza whenever the bloodshed ends.Letus allhope and pray that it ends sooner rather than later.

Road accidents and traffic disruptions have become common in the area. Those responsible for running the affairs of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) have clearly failed to deal with the rising population of stray dogs. Reportedly, about a hundred cases of dog bites are being recorded daily in the city. Besides, the shortage of rabies vaccines in hopsitals is a persistent issue in Sindh. The authorities should develop a pragmatic policy and ensure the safety of the citizens.

High-rise buildings are constructed in the city without proper checkstoensuretheyhavepropernre exits. We tend to react only after an incident, and then try to pass on the blame to this agency or that. All buildings should be checked thoroughly before they are handed over to the occupants.
