RECENTLY, a political party carried out an online power show in which its incarcerated leader`s statement, as generated by artificial intelligence (AI), was released. The workers were happy to watch and listen to it as it gave them the feeling of their leader being among them.
This may have grave consequences in the current era of AI-based technology because someone can make a video of their leaders in which they may appear to be mentioning names. If that happens, the security of the persons so named will definitely stand compromised. Or, they may be shown as asking their followers to come out and attack this place or that, or this person or the other.
Suppose such a video is released in the middle of the night. What happens then? One can imagine the prompt reaction of the followers, especially who happen to follow the cult more than anything rational. This is a dangerous game that needstobe checkedbefore thingsgo awry. The social media has brought a massive positive revolution, but nobody can deny that it also has a darker side to it. For instance, disinformation now spreads like wildfire.
The country has already been facing a lot of issues. All politicians regardless of their orientation must stop such tactics in the larger interest of the country. The country can hardly afford another May 9.
