Navy team seizes huge cache of narcotics

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy seized a large cache of narcotics, said to be worth about $1 million, during a counternarcotics operation in the North Arabian Sea.
The narcotics were being smuggled via a sea route to international destinations.
During the operation, the navy ship Moawin, supported by the navy air assets, successfully intercepted a dhow, conducted boarding operations, and apprehended the narcotics, which were stowed in a hidden compartment of the vessel.
`The successful execution of this anti-narcotics operation demonstrates Pakistan Navy`s vigilance, professionalism, and resolve to deter and disrupt all illegal activities, ensuring good order at sea. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth approximately $1 million in international market,` an official statement added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday extended appreciation to the Pakistan Navy for conducting a successful antinarcotics operation at sea, according to the APP.
`This is a very significant milestone in the anti-narcotics campaign,` the prime minister said in a press statement issued by the PM office.
He said the navy played a central role in preventing drug smuggling on the country`s maritime defence and sea routes.
`The nation is proud of the personnel of the Pakistan Navy,` the prime minister added.
