Doctors body slams deferred promotions

By Our Staff Reporter 2014-02-03
LAHORE: The Punjab General Cadre Doctors Association on Sunday condemned what it called deferring promotion of 75 general cadre doctors to senior registrars and specialists on the pretext of short annual confidential reports (ACRs).

Presiding over a meeting, the association`s President Dr Masood Sheikh claimed deferring promotion of 75 doctors on a `false pretext` was injustice and the chief minister should take notice of it.

He said majority of these doctors had produced all therequired documents including ACRs to a pre-departmental selection committee, which had declared them acceptable and promised they would be promoted soon.

He said the committee had even verified the documents but now the promotion was being denied to these doctors. The department must promote those who had produced their reports, he said.

Dr Rana Imtiaz said the department had not as yet issued the list of doctors eligible for promotion. It must include the ones it was declaring ineligible for promotion despite production of their ACRs.
