KMC pensioners

2018-02-03
I HAD a chance to visit the Paposhnagar branch of a well-known bank at 1.45pm the other day. There I saw about 100 or more old men and women outside the bank. There were either sitting or standing on the road.

They were KMC pensioners and were waiting to get their pensions. I was told that the bank was not able to give them their pension as the fund required had not been transferred by the KMC to the bank. More than 70 people were there before the sunrise, while others joined them there before 9am.

They said it was a regular for the KMC to transfer an amount less than the required one. Thus the bank pays it out on the first-comefirst-served basis. When the the available fund is not available, the remaining pensioners have to return home empty-hand.1 suppose the Mayor and other KMC staff are getting their salaries on time. Hence they do not bother about the sufferings of their retired colleagues. The Sindh governmentt, too, is not bothered about this.
