Child protection law

2018-02-03
ARTICLE 25 of the Constitution says: `Nothing in this article shall prevent the state from making any special provision for the protection of women and children.

The Constitution ensures the safety of life and property, and the sanctity of people without any discrimination. In the past, thousands of cases have been registered in police stations and courts regarding threats to life and property.

However, when it comes to rights and protection of minors, there appears to be less attention paid to the protection of children.

While the crime of murder is known to be committed with frequency for the sake of property, unrequited love, marriage, political gain, and during robberies, the rape and murder of children is a blot on the conscience of the state that fails to protect its vulnerable population.

Oflatereveladonsregarding an increasing number of child abuse and murder cases means the state has not stepped in to tackle such endemic crimes.

This has lef t communities terrified of the unsafe environment for their children.

Many do not allow their children to either play outdoors or leave the home unaccompanied fearing child abductors are lurking in their vicinity. It is, therefore, suggested that the government implement legislation so that offenders do not commit such crimes with impunity.
