Sialkot police arrest 96 for violating kite flying act

NAROWAL: The Sialkot police arrested 96 people for violating the Kite Flying Act and recovered hundreds of 1(ites and string reels from the suspects.

District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad told Dawn that the police have devised a strategy to prevent kite sales, purchase, and use.

He said five police circles had been assigned specific tasks, with the operation being led by deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) fromcity circle, Sadar circle, Daska circle, Pasrur circle and Sambrial circle.

He said a search operation was being conducted in urban areas using drone cameras to prevent kite flying.

He said human intelligence sources were being utilised to track the sale and procurement of kites.

He said legal action would be taken against those violating the Kite Flying Act.

He urged citizens to report kite sales and purchases to police helpline 15.
