Portuguese ambassador visits UoG

GUJRAT: The Portuguese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr Frederico Silva, on Sunday visited Hafiz Hayat Campus of the University of Gujrat (UoG).
On his arrival, Mr Silva was warmly received by UoGVice ChancellorProf Dr Zahoorul Haq, senior academics and administration officials.
Punjab`s former education minister Mian Imran Masood, also the vice chancellor of the University of South Asia, accompanied the Portuguese delegation.
During a meeting presided over by the Uog vice chancellor and attended by deans, directors, senior academics and administration officials, Mr Silva hailed the decadeslong bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation between Portugal and Pakistan.
He expressed his keen desire for collaboration with the UoG to promote research.
Prof Haq thanked Mr Silva for his initiative to promote and strengthen collaboration in higher education.
The VC said he would share the varsity`s strategic plan and key areas ofcollaboration would be identified during their next meeting.
Later, the Portuguese envoy visited Faculty of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts and praised the project of students. He also visited UoG TV andradio station and recorded a message for students.
Earlier, the ambassador visited the centuriesold Gujrat fort in the city and the historical Eid Gah Masjid, where Imran Masood briefed him about its history.
