PESHAWAR: Condemning the cold-blooded murder of two brothers in Pawaka village, Peshawar, Khalil tribe elders on Thursday urged the provincial government to ensure protection to local jirgas so that the reconciliatory bodies could continue resolving inter-tribes feuds and restore peace in society.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, members of the Khalil Tribe Islahi Committee, led by local nazim Zahid Hussain, said that two brothers were killed on Feb 21 in the hujra of an elder, Haji Zubair, at Pawaka village over a land dispute.
Flanked by the area elders, the nazim said that police had arrested Haroon and other accused in the case as the two brothers had been killed without any reason.
`Both the parties had opted to sit together at the residence of Haji Zubair to resolve their dispute, but they did not wait for arrival of the Khalil tribe elders at the venue,` the nazim said. He said that the Islahi committee would take action against the killers, but it needed the government support.
He urged the government to support the Islahi committee`s stand against the killers so that no one could take life of any innocent person.-Bureau Repon
