FBR asked to stop raiding businesses

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has agreed to stop raiding businesses that are already in the tax net, according to a press release issued by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Thursday.

FPCCI President Zubair Tufail visited the FBR to meet its chairman Dr Muhammad Irshad and discuss issues faced by the business community, the statement said.

He said the business community is playing a positive role in national development.

Itis a major source of revenue and deserves better treatment at the hands of government of ficials, he said.

He asked the FBR chairman to direct the field formations to stop raiding taxpayers that are already in the tax net. Instead, the FBR`s target should be those businesses that are non-filers, he said.

The FBR chairman agreed to the proposal in principal and assured the FPCCI representative that no raids would be conducted anymore, the statement said.

The FPCCI president also asked tax authorities to focus on expanding the tax net to generate revenues necessary to run the country`s aff airs.-APP
