TAXILA: The Punjab Food Department has seized over 2,000 bags of flour during a raid on a warehouse and arrested sixsuspected hoarders.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by deputy director A.D. Saqib along with District food controller Mohammad Ramzan Sial, assistant food controllers and police raided the warehouse near Naseerabad and found subsidised flour packed in new packaging for sale in the open market.

Six people were booked under the food act and were sent behind bars.

Talking to newsmen, Mr Saqib said the raid was conducted on the information that hoarders had collected subsidised flour from mills and were selling it in the open market in new packaging.

District Food Controller Mohammad Ramzan Sial said the food department and district police were strictly monitoring all exit points of Rawalpindi district to foil wheat and flour smuggling. Correspondent
