UNFAIR REJECTIONS: According to the Sindh government`s policy, candidates applying for government jobs are entitled to a five-year age relaxation, which increases the maximum age limit from 28 to 33 years. However, despite meeting the criterion, the relevant testing service rejects applicants aged 33 without any justification. Moreover, it collects a non-refundable challan fee of Rs1,500 for processing applications, only to reject them later due to age or other problems.
This causes applicants immense stress.
The government must intervene and ask the testing service to be fair in its dealings.
Urooj Fatima Mahesar Hyderabad UNLIVEABLE AREA: The area that falls under the Walton Cantonment Board has become unliveable and chaotic over the years. The streets are congested with all kinds of traffic, including donkey carts, vegetable vendors, motorcycles as well as heavy vehicles. Moreover, with the passage of time, illegal markets have sprung up, and there is wastewater inundating many streets. The Walton Road has been under construction for years, but there is no sign of its completion. The noise pollution is unbearable, and the entire area feels more like an urban slum than a residential neighbourhood. The authorities should take immediate action to restore some level of order and liveability to the area.
HuzaifaJamil Lahore DIFFICULT NAVIGATION: This is with reference to the letter `Wheelchair ramps` (Feb 22), which rightly pointe d out that there are no wheelchair ramps in public places, and those that are available happen to be in a bad shape, which makes navigation difficult for those using a wheelchair. I am suffering from a problem in my legs and cannot move around without a wheelchair, particularly in public places, like shopping malls. Inaccessibility to such places has been frustrating. The relevant authorities should instruct all building owners as well as contractors to have proper ramps for wheelchair users.
