UMERKOT: A group of Kapri community members bulldozed the concrete house of their rivals in a land dispute in Jeewan Shah village of Umerkot on Sunday and, according to the victims, took away their gold jewellery, cash, animals and other valuables.
The village is situated along Hakro Dhoro, a natural waterway.
Standing helpless and perturbed on the rubble of their house after the incident, Mohammad Sharif Kapri, Mohammad Ashraf and their other family members, told local reporters that they had been living in this house for decades. They said it was built on a piece of state-owned land but their rivals within their own community had been forcing them to vacate and hand over the property to them.
They said that on Sunday, they started demolishing the house with the help of a tractor while male members of the family were away. They said that the attackers barged into the house and collected all cash, jewellery and valuables present inside before demolishing the house. The intruders also drove away their animals present outside, they added.
The affected family appealed to the higher authorities to take action against the culprits and also measures to rehabilitate them.
