Six gunned down over enmity

GUJRAT: At least six people were gunned down by unidentified assailants over enmity near Miana Chak, Bhargran village, in Dinga police precincts just an hour before Iftar time on Sunday.

As per the police, Zahid Nazim, Mubashar, Zameer, Javed Iqbal and Rukhsar Ali, all residents of Dinga Khurd village, were going somewhere in a double-cabin vehicle, when unidentified armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire atthem with sophisticated weapons.

As a result, five men in the vehicle were hit by bullets and died on the spot, while one of their guards was critically injured and also succumbed to his wounds later while being shifted to hospital in Dinga town. The assailants managed to nee the scene after the incident.

Some locals, who were first to reach the crime scene, informed the police and Rescue 1122 officials about the killings.

Police and Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot, along with a team of thePunjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA). The PFSA team collected the forensic evidence.

The bodies were shifted to hospital for the postmortem examination.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Mustansir Atta Bajwa, Kharian DSP and other police officials also visited the crime scene.

Initial police investigations revealed that the victims had an enmity with Akhtar group of the area that had earlier murdered at least two people of their group.

The police are yet to register the case.
