Action against bird poachers

MUZAFFARGARH: The wildlife department took action against the bird poachers at Taunsa Barrage on the Indus river.

The action was carried out by Wildlife and Parks Assistant Director Abdul Razzaq Sajib. In the downstream of Taunsa Barrage, the poachers were illegally keeping three large locally known as Nil Blahis, types of bird living along the river, as pets and their eyes and wings were tied. The raiding team took the birds into their possession and launched legal action against the poachers. The assistant director said they were informed by officials of the Sindhu Bachau Tarla and appreciated efforts of the organization for protecting wildlife.

The seized birds were released back into their wild habitat at the river.
